Peter King b c1875 married Mary Dargan in Southwick, Sunderland. He had three daughters Jane Ann, Catherine and Mary. He left his family in the 1870's. I believe he may have gone to America. Both the Kings and Dargan's originated from Ireland. If anyone can tell me where in Ireland I would be most grateful or what happened to Peter KING I'd be most grateful..

Thanks Alan, but not too good at Irish look ups though! Was hoping birth place would be mentioned in one of the census records!

Going back to Peter King there is possibly a very good reason why he wasn't with his family in 1881!
I found this record which shows a Peter King living in Sunderland, born Ireland, about correct age (but would need confirmation from marriage cert.) who is a Private in the Army, unfortunately he is noted as unmarried so?:-

To find out anything reliable about Peter King you really need to buy the marriage cert. It will not only give you his age and profession, it will also give you his fathers name which will help find him in earlier census records.
