Hello
I am looking for information about the ancestors of my great-great-great grandfather George King. He was apparently born in London, England c.1802 and was transported from England to Australia as a convict on the S.S. Minerva. His father was also of the name George King. I am wanting to find his ancestors and mother, and if possible to find out what he was convicted of. It does not state his crime on his pardon certificate.
Thanks for your assistance!
Cheers

The only transportation I can find for George King on the Minerva is in 1824 but he was tried in Kent so it could be this one. There is an R next to the death sentence so it could have been revoked. On his transportation record it gives the term as Life.

George King
Date of Trial: Lent 1824
Trial Year: 1824
Location of Trial: Kent, England
Sentence: Death
The offence was Larceny in a Something House.............can't make it out.

Convicted Date: 15 Mar 1824

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure when he was transported. 1824 does ring a bell.

Any suggestions on how I might find out George's birth details and the name of his mother?
