I am looking for Charles born in Caythorpe, Notts 20/08/1893. Served in the Royal Navy from 1909 - 1923 (1911 cencus has him on Cornwallis, Malta) After that I lose track of him.

There are 2 marriages in Basford for a Charles H KIng in 1916 and 1920 in free bmd.
Do you know if he married?

Useful info, Sharon! (A suggestion: if you add that info as a "postem" to his name at FreeBMD, it could save others paying for a certificate. ;) )

Maybe Martin will come back and offer *all* the info he has about his Charles, e.g. his father's name.


For Martin's info, my understanding is that the military records of people who did not leave until after 1920 will not be available for some time, e.g. 3 more years for those who left in 1923, I think. (I'm in the same situation with a grandfather who left in 1924.)
