Looking for my grandmother Mary Ann King 18/08/1866 and her father Thomas King - a Carpenter. She married Charles Henry Ebenezer Lightfoot on 06/09/1888 both lived in Southwark then but grandfather came Yorkshire. Any help appreciated. Cleo |

'Mariner' would explain his absence in 1871 |

Thanks for that info, great help - I spent ages looking many times before but got in a panic at the time with so many names coming up and also at that time the credits ran out so quickly but I see the credit system is better now. |

Yes, it was that my grandfather came from Yorkshire. He came down to London to Join the police force and must have met Mary Ann King then because he was based in Southwark but previously I could not even find out where she was born as there were so many Mary Ann King's when I looked. Thanks again, you have encouraged me to begin again with this part of my tree as I have managed to trace Charles HE Lightfoot family back to Pickhill Yorkshire in 1800's. Ta! |

Thanks so much, I can't quite believe all the information in such a short time, it will take me a while to sift through it. And thanks for the other sites. I did try the month free on Ancestry and it was very good but being a pensioner I cannot really afford the monthly payments but I am going to look into it all now as I have lots of work to do for my sons' on their ancestors too. I got quite a long way many years ago with Lightfoot (before the internet) and found a cousin I did not know I had. My sisters and me had no info at all and did not even know our dad had so many sisters but the cousin helped a lot and even had photos. It all makes me and my sisters a bit tearful even now. Thanks again. |
