Hi
I have found on IGI George Lee b 25/2/1816 Wakefield, Yorkshire and his parents Jeremiah Lee mother Elizabeth Perkin
Does anyone have access to any additional records (church) that can help identify his brothers and sisters. I am not sure even if he did have any?
I am in OZ so can mainly do searches on line.
Any help appreciated.

Regards

Sean

Dear Sean

Hello,

I have looked on www.ancestry.co.uk
for the 1841 census.

I cannot seem to find him there.

On www.findmypast.com, there are several
GEORGE LEE, from Yorkshire born in 1816 and after.

I can view them but I cannot gain access to the full details as my membership expired and I did not renew it in time.

Perhaps someone who is using:

www.findmypast.com on a regular subscription would kindly look this up.

It would not cost anything because you subscribe to access records for
6 months or 1 year.

That is the best I can do at the moment, Steven.

Best wishes
From GR Member, England
xx

Sean

Apologies if you already know this, since you found the initial info on IGI (presumably www.familysearch.org) you can also click the Batch Number Link.

Which is on the bottom left of the record in this case: C004982

This takes you to another Search screen.

You should then enter just the Surname and the parents first names.

This can then give you a list of potential siblings.

The Wortley ones are Batch Number C071961.

Another way to use IGI info is via the extremely useful:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm

This allows you to search particular towns for a surname.

Hi Sean,

I don't know about your link to IGI but I search it via this one:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

If you have the parents just put in their names (I put in Jeremiah Lee + Elizabeth (didn't put surname as most christenings only have mothers first names)

You can't specify anything else I am afraid, only the area , so sometimes you get a LOT of results covering several centuries and you have to scroll through them.

On this occasion, only these people came up and there was a large gap in the dates so I was not convinced, and they were not exactly in the same place.

However, the fact that one of the Wortley ones - William had the middle name Perkin would seem to prove that they are siblings?

Give it a try and let me know how you get on.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the info especially on the likely siblings. This gives me a bit more to go on now. Dea X do you think that Samuel b 1831 are William b 1828 were George's brothers? George was born in 1816.

I think it is VERY likely Sean.

At their christenings, they all had parents Jeremiah Lee (not many of those about at the time), and Elizabeth.

They are in the same household in 1841 !!

The age gap worried me at first but the fact that William has the name Perkin as a middle name shows that they are definately related.

They surely MUST be siblings.

I will see if I can find any further proof.
