Can anybody help me with any info about Lee family? Georges father-Edward 1880 mother ? Was said to have had stepmother who he fell out with, left home at 14. Think there was a brother Walterwho was 7 years younger. Could have gone to London. Maried Alice Aurbrey and had 2 chidren, lived in the miidlands. Was in the RFC and thenthe RAF.

thanks for info from1911 cencus did find this. george was born in nottingham-this is from where he went to london.he was my husbands maternal grandfather. his only daughter left has no papers and does not know that much about him because he didn't talk much about his early life.there is a story that he could have been related to gypsies. anything at all about his family and ancesters would be welcome.

Well, I do love spending my time "finding" things that people already know - when they ask for "any info" and don't disclose the info they have ...

I guess what you need to do is get the parents' marriage certificate to learn their fathers' names, find them in censuses before marriage ... etc. etc. Like we all do!

Lee is in fact a common name among travellers/Roma. If you trace the family back, you may find that to be the case.
