I am looking for any info on John Brynygog Lewis - born quarter end Sept 1882 in district of Highworth, the youngest son of Evan & Jane Lewis. At 1901 census John was living with his widowed father at 59 Morris St, Swindon. Family legend has it that John drowned in Cardiff Bay (I don't know when) but I can't find a 'death' noted for him in his full name although there are a few for John B Lewis.
Does anyone have any tips on narrowing down the search without sending for individual death certificates for each John B Lewis listed?

Thanks

Anne

The age at death will be on the index.............that should eliminate a few, I would imagine.

Yes, thanks. I will start checking. I just hope his middle name or initial was recorded at the time & his death was not listed as just John Lewis!

Hi Ann

My grandfather was John Brynygog Lewis, born Swindon according to his birth certificate 17 May 1882. his father was Evan Lewis his mother was Jane Lewis (nee Thomas), he returned to Wales and married Ella Daisy Cooke in 1907 at Pontypridd. they had 8 children and 19 grandchildren. He was a miner for most of his life and a railway clark in later life. I am sure that this is the same person with the same name parents. I am afraid that your family information is not true. He did not drown in Cardiff Bay but lived to be the ripe old age of 87 and died in 1969 at Efail Isaf Pontypridd. May be we could call each other then i could get your address and I can send you some birth certificates and photographs if you would like them. Let me know if you want to dio that and I will give you my phone number later.

How are you related to him?

This is very exciting I have only just joined Genes reunited and already I seem to be finding relative the I did not know I had. I have already traced back a little way via ancesry .com but have come to a brick wall maybe you have found out more than me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

regards

Mair - for your own security you should not publish your email address on the message boards. Ask for a private email - done by the sender clicking on your name in the post.
It would be better if you edited out your address.
