Lewis Block - Can't Find Anything Else _ ARGH!

Hi,

I've been stuck for a while now on John Lewis, born 1814c in Carmarthen, South Wales (although on the 1841 and 1851 Census it just says Ireland, however on 1861 it does specifically say Carmarthen).

I found his marriage certificate and with the utmost bad luck he married Dorothy Enderwick in February 1837 - several months before certificates were fully introduced, I happened to find the church records, where of course there was no father's name put on. The witnesses names are completely unreadable and I can't think of anything at all to find this man's parents. He moved to Chester le Street, County Durham and married at Houghton le Spring, County Durham. He died 1865c and was a coal miner.

Please could anyone supply any tips so I can find this gentleman. I have been stuck for ages and I'm at my wits end. There is maybe and only a maybe, one possible clue, one of John and Dorothy's sons, Joseph Lewis born 1848 in Chester le Street called his first born son John Irving Loftus Enderwick Lewis.

John I L E Lewis is my g-g grandfather
Joseph Lewis is my g-g-g grandfather
John Lewis is my g-g-g-g grandfather.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even just tips on what to do or what websites are available etc.

Many thanks in advance.

Ben.
