Hi I am trying to find any information on my grandfather, HERBERT STANLEY LEWIS, born in May 1907, married EDITH LITTLEFORD in 1943, they had two daughters one of whom is my mother.He died in 1964. He was in the RAMC in WWII and was awarded the Burma Star. I have been told he was born in the Ashton/Manchester area by one relative but my mother believes he may have been born in Wales, but I can find no trace of him. His father was ROBERT JOHN LEWIS (collier). He had sisters SARAH and ELIZABETH HANNAH (married HARRY BERESFORD) and brothers ERNEST? and JOHN. After discharge from the army he worked for the Water Board. SARAH married a MILNER, 1st name unknown) . Any info would be gratefully received. Thankyou. |
