The Martin File William was born in Ireland in 1837. By 1871 UK census he was married to Jane and living at Stratford by Bow, London with their children, Alice Jane, b 1865; William, b1867; Elizabeth Mary, b1869; Mary Ann, b 1873; Thomas Ernest, b 1876 and Joseph Henry, b 1878. William's occupation is shown as a gatekeeper. In the 1881 UK census William is shown to be living in Plaistow, London. I can find no records of the William in the 1891 UK census. By the time of the 1891 UK census Jane Martin is shown as a widow. I know Mary Ann went on to marry Antony Van Ryssen in 1898 and they had children. Mary Ann, b 1898; Lily, b 1901, d 1992; Margaret Ada, b 1902, d 1987; Kathleen Bertha, b1910, d 1990 and Agnes M, b 1915. Has anyone got a fit for these names and dates. If you are part of the Van Ryssen file, I can go back to 1750 and I would be very happy to exchange information. Please contact me |
