Martins from Falmouth, then moved to Newcastle upon Tyne. Captain Martin had a fleet of clippers bringing tea, silks & spices etc from the middle & far East. My grandfather Richard Martin (journalist in Newcastle) married Alice Johns from Conneticut, US of A and she had 2 sisters Florence & Leona. The Martins were/are something to do with Martins Chemists in Newcastle. My grandfathers's father was one of 12 children. His mother was Ada Maud Rapson, her maiden name was Reed - from Corwall I think, (my G. grandmother - I remember her well!) I can't remember his father's name, possibly Michael or James. We had an Uncle Vivian in the family too and some of the family settled in Sidmouth, Devon. I know my 2nd & 3rd cousins in Cornwall, any other relatives I would love to know about. |
