Mabel Agnes Mitchell? possibly Nicholson born 1884

My father was Harry Mitchell born Richmond Surrey 1919. His mother is on his birth cert as Mabel Agnes Mitchell, no father named, her death cert says she was the widow of Mitchell, but she didn't marry anyone. Think her name was Nicholson and she was possibly from Doncaster area. She also may have had a daughter Dolly? who still lives in in those parts. Any help finding either her or the Mitchell in question would be appreciated. Not much to go on I know!

What makes you think her surname was Nicholson and not Mitchell if she didn't marry

Have you considered that her name was Mitchell, she was an unmarried mum?

The other births found are my uncle and aunts.My faher always said she had never married but that he had been told many years ago that her name was Nicholson. We think that she probably left the family when she became pregnant. He had a brother and 2 sisters, none of which had a father's name. On her death cert it said she was the widow of Mitchell but we are certain she never married anyone. haven't much to go on, hoping someone has a relative with that name that just disappeared off their tree!

Information on the death registration was only as good as the informant knew.

Yes, that was my uncle. He's dead so we have nothing there to go on there. I think this is a brick wall and nothing will ever be found out
