My family migrated from England to Nz then to Australia. To paint the picture, grandfather William Craig Mitchell (b1923-1959 NZ), great grandfather Percy Craig Mitchell (1889-1939 NZ).
My great great grandfather is where I'm starting to get unstuck and beyond. His name was George Mitchell (b St Pancras, Middlesex 1/8/1860)He emigrated to NZ. I'm 99 % sure of this. There he married a Henrietta Craig.
I know that George had a sister Selina (born c 1847). I have this information off 1861 census. I don't know if she married and maybe there is someone out there with a similar tree to mine with the progression of ancestors that I do.
I know that George and Selina's father was a George Seppings Mitchell (born in Takenham, Norfok c 1827). He married a Anna (Anne) Roberts and I think they married in 1848 (This is all the information I have one them)
From George Seppings death certificate (he also emigrated to NZ), I found his parents particulars and his father was also a George Mitchell and mother was Elizabeth Everett (Im estimating they were born around the 1800 mark).
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. I have finally reached a rut.

Just a wee correction. George was baptised on Aug 1 1860. He was born on Aug 18, 1859.
London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906 about George Mitchell Name: George Mitchell Record Type: Baptism Date: 1 Aug 1860 Father's Name: George Seppings Mitchell, servant of 29 Augustus Street Mother's Name: Ann Mitchell Parish: Christ Church, Albany Street Borough: Camden County: Middlesex
George Seppings was baptised 12 May 1827 at Fakenham, Norfolk. Parents were George and Elizabeth. This is on pilot.familysearch. There is a George, same parents and place of birth, born 8 May, 1822.
George married Elizabeth Everitt on 21 or 31 Jan 1814 in Fakenham. There are 2 dates showing.

Thankyou so much for this revelation. I have not used this pilot.familysearch website before. Hopefully this unlocks a few doors that have previously been closed to me.

for ref:-
1861 Name: George Mitchell Age: 33 Estimated birth year: abt 1828 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Ann Gender: Male Where born: Takenham, Norfolk, England Civil parish: St Pancras Ecclesiastical parish: Christchurch County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Street Address: 39 Augustus Street
Occupation: Messenger
Registration district: Pancras Sub-registration district: Regents Park ED, institution, or vessel: 17 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 193 Household Members: Name Age George Mitchell 33 Ann Mitchell 37 born: Ashurst, Kent, Selina Mitchell 14 born: Penshurst, Kent George Mitchell 1 born: St Pancras, Middlesex William Webley 32 Lodger
I've looked for a birth for Selina and haven't had much luck, but, when you see the difference in age of George and Ann and the difference of age of Selina and George, I'm wondering if Selina may have been the daughter of Ann before she married George, and that George and Ann may have married a lot later than 1848.

Following up my theory I checked 1851 census for Selina born 1847 Penshurst, Kent and the only one to show is this one:-
Name: Selina Roberts Age: 4 Estimated birth year: abt 1847 Relation: Visitor Gender: Female Where born: Penshurst, Kent, England Civil parish: Cowden County/Island: Kent Country: England
Registration district: Sevenoaks Sub-registration district: Sevenoaks ED, institution, or vessel: 2b Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 37 Household Members: Name Age James Wicking 59 Elizabeth Wicking 50 William Boads 21 Charlotte Plumer 74 Selina Roberts 4
....following on from this I checked for a marriage for George Mitchell to Ann Roberts and found this one:- Marriages Dec 1858 (>99%) Bridges Joseph Marylebone 1a 809 Ellis James Taylor Marylebone 1a 809 Keast Mary Marylebone 1a 809 Mitchell George Marylebone 1a 809 Roberts Ann Marylebone 1a 809
could very well be just a coincidence but you never know???
EDIT:- This is the above marriage:-
Name: George Mitchell Age: Full Age Estimated birth year: abt 1858 (obviously this can't be correct) Condition: Widower Profession : Servant Residence at time of marriage : Frederick Street Spouse Name: Ann Roberts Age: Full Age Condition : Spinster Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 10 Oct 1858 Parish: St Marylebone County: Middlesex Borough: Westminster Father Name: George Mitchell Profession : Coachman - deceased Spouse Father Name: James Roberts Profession : Paper Maker - deceased
EDIT:- Sorry, I've just reread your thread and I've just noticed that you already knew that Ann's name was Roberts, so this does seem to be looking good.

HI Catherine
So your saying that George was also married before he married Ann? If it says he was a widower...
My future father in law proposed the same theory that Selina may have been the result of a previous marriage as well.

Hello Gavin, Yes I think that is very probable, due the age difference between Selina and George Jnr. It does seem that George was married before but I have found no evidence that Selina was his daughter as I couldn't find a birth under the name of Mitchell. My theory is that Selina was Ann's illegitimate daughter as i couldn't find a birth for her under the name of Mitchell, but I did find one with the name of Roberts. I also found an 1851 census record which could very well be her.
I'll have a look and see if I can find any sign of him in 1851.
EDIT Nothing popping out for the moment?

Found this by Googling his name:-
MITCHELL. Bulls George Seppings Mitchell, Storekeeper, died on the 4th of January 1881.
and, due the unusual name, this may have some future relevance:- Baptism: 12/01/1834 Charles SEPPINGS Father's Name: George SEPPINGS Father's Profession: Wine Merchant Mother's Name: Susanna Birth: 20/12/1833

This Charles Mitchell mmay have come along as a result of another marriage then. Otherwise, the dates won't add up.
Yes I know about the Bulls, New Zealand info as thats where I started my search.
Is there any way you can look at my tree to review your findings, I'm not sure if what I have is entirely accurate now.
