Tracing Beatrice May Moore

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Having finally tracked down the correct birth cert for my dad (Brian Moore dob 4/6/34) I have his mother noted as Beatrice May Moore - living at 184 Holland Rd W14 at the time. No details of his father. We`d always had the name Beatrice Moore as his grandmother which could still be the case.
With the above info where can I go from here as I don`t have an age for his mum her name was not unusual around the date frame I looked at. Would love to know if she married, if she had other children and if any of them are still around! Nicci

tempest

tempest Report 12 Oct 2010 18:22

if the 1911 census is correct this could be the birth of Beatrice May

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
Name: Beatrice M Moore
Year of Registration: 1910
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Camberwell
County: Greater London, London, Surrey
Volume: 1d
Page: 893

knowing her actual date of birth might help track down her death and surname at the time of death,

this might then help find her marriage(s)

Maybe??
Beatrice May Moore married J/A/S 1936 deptford 1d 2537 to Henry A A Birchard.

Beatrice May Birchard born 1/8/1910 died Southwark Nov 1998.
I think there are births to this marriage.

Beatrice may on 1911 census 8months old.It was taken on 2/4/1911 if she was born 1/8/1910 she would have been 8 months,so maybe this marriage and death date are the correct Beatrice.

I traced my dads correct birth certificate when I searched for any male Moores born in 1934, mothers MAIDEN name Moore and came across an entry which matched with no first name. When the cert came through it had his exact date of birth.
Place of birth (28 Marloes Rd, Kensington) appears to have been a poor law hospital - perhaps specifically for unmarried mothers etc.
The Peacehaven address I`d originally been looking for was when all I had as a lead was his grandmothers name when she lived in Peacehaven/Newhaven in the 30`s. Not so important now as hopefully I`m getting more up to date info.
To my dads mother and the Henry A A Birchard that she married, there is a possible son (possibly a half brother to my dad) - Henry J P Birchard, born 1939 in Lewisham, London. Possibly a daughter - Jean S Birchard, born 1947, married a `Hazell in 1970.
If I can verify these connections then they seem to still be alive. I`d like any links to these possible siblings as cannot find any marriage for Henry. Did Jean have kids?

The other thread states that Beatrice's mother was also called Beatrice and she died in London a few years after he was adopted. How do you know where and when she died?

Hi Brian,
It is best if you don't post names of people on here who may still be alive.

PM people if possible.

Good Luck Maryb

Hi everyone,
would anyone be willing to double check the links we thought we`d established between the following please:
My dad, registered with no christian name just male, MOORE, dob 4th june 1934, mother Beatrice May Moore, drapers assistant, of 184 Holland Rd W14,London.
with - Beatrice May Moore, born 1st august 1910 to Phillip H and Beatrice Maud MOORE in London. Later married H AA Birchard in 1936.
We do know that my dads grandmother who handed him over to his new family at age 14 months was Beatrice Moore and was a dressmaker/seamstress who had moved for a time from London to Newhaven/Peacehaven but then moved back to London late 30`s and died soon after.
Many thanks
Nicci

Hi Nicci, you already have the info on the birth of Beatrice May and her family in 1911.

What else are you wanting doubled checked?

If you have addresses maybe you could check out the electoral records, usually available in libraries local to that area.

Phillip henry Moore born June 1880 in Camberwll parents John Moore 1849 salisbury Wiltshire and mum Elizabeth Moore born 1852 Dorset.

Phillip Henry Moore married Beatrice Maud Earle in Greenwich 13th September 1902 1d 2021.
Phillip Henry Moore died 1953 in Deptford london age 73 = 1880.

Beatrice Maud Earle born 1882 to James Earle 1845 Greenwich and Mary Caroline Earle 1845 Bucks.
Beatrice Maude Moore died 1944 Deptford age 62 = 1882.1d 561

Hi there,
I`m 99% convinced but would like to be 100% sure as from what I have learnt from Beatrice May Moores family she was a devoted mum and devoted to her husband who she married in 36 but had been with for many years beforehand.
Is there any possiblity that there is another Beatrice May Moore with mother Beatrice Moore around that time in the London area? Hard to believe there could be but harder for elderly half brothers and sister to be faced with such a longterm secret of their mothers.
My problem re local records is that I now live in france!

I can't find another Beatrice may with mum beatrice in 1911.
But if son was born 1934 she may not have been born until after 1911 census.

I don't really know how you are going to resolve this.

All the info seems to point to Phillip Henry Moore and Beatrice Maud Moore being her parents but like you say with such delicate matters its best to be 100% sure.

As this board now works, I found myself on the Moore "surname board" after reading an old post you replied to, on the complete TTF board. (In that case, you would do best to try contact the poster by private message, by clicking on her name, if you do want to reach them.)

For future ref (and as had already been pointed out in another of your threads), please do not start duplicate threads about the same thing:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/moore/thread/1241128

Also, don't post personal info about people likely now living -- the post-1930 births/marriage you put in an earlier post in this thread, which you need to edit that post to delete (anyone here can find them using Ancestry and the surnames, e.g.). Those people or anyone else who googled their names could find this discussion, with the rather sensitive info about individuals here. (Someone asked earlier that you do this; please do it.)

I will PM you two births, in case that question wasn't answered.

edit - also sent marriage and contact info
