George Morris was born 1811 in Ludlow, Shropshire, he married someone called Ellen who was born 1831 in Wooler, Northumberland.

Their first child, John Morris was born in 1846 In Wooler, Northumberland.

They appear on census records living in Gateshead, Durham.

Can anyone tell me Ellens maiden name - I cant seem to find a marriage for them.

Many Thanks.

Linda

If you sent for John's birth cert it would give you mother's maiden name.

I can't see a marraige but I wonder if this was George second marraige - Ellen is too young to be the mother of the older children I would think and this could be John and family in 1851

Thank you for looking for me - yes I also thought she may have been a bit young but in those days you never know maybe they did have kids at 15.

I appreciate your help.

Found this on IGI - wonder if Jane was Clara Jane?

Mind you, this is a submitted record so it could be complete rubbish.

Again, its all worth a look Christina, many thanks for the information. I wonder what that means though, has it been mistranscribed do you think or has someone in the Morris family been playing silly beggars and changed their name! It wouldnt be the first time I've come across that happening.
