My Great Grandfather John Morris was born in Trelech in c1849.By 1871 he is in Merthyr Tydfil with his wife Mary and two children. In 1881 they have one more child Elizabeth and are living in 2 Gilfach Cynon Twynrodyn.
In 1891 Elizabeth is living at the same address with another family described as an orphan.
I have a death certificate for John Morris .The address is 2 Blaencynon Houses Twynrodyn. His brother William was in attendance. The age and the occupation are correct.I can't find his wife Marys death. She could have remarried. If there is anyone out there with any knowledge of the area i would be very grateful for any help.

What I really need to know is could the address on the death certificate be mistranscribed or is it another area?I really am stuck and don't know where to go next.

Sorry I can't help you John, but it may have been that he died at his brother's residence?

So not his brother's address!!

I tried Googling both cynons- their are a few references to Gilfach, but can't find anything for Blaen Cynon- so perhaps they are the same address.

There is a list of Merthyr Tydfil Streets here:

http://www.alangeorge.co.uk/STREETS.htm

Hopefully some who lives that way can tell you more.

Hello Helen
Iv'e looked and looked at various Merthyr sites but I can only find Gilfachcynon.Perhaps it is a mistake or perhaps it used to be there.

Hello Annie
Is there anyway to check if there was ever a place called Blaencynon Houses in Twynrodyn?

John, if nobody can help on this board maybe you could try this:

http://oldmerthyr1.proboards.com/index.cgi

It seems to be a forum about the history of Merthyr Tydfil- maybe some one there could help- might be worth a try.

Best wishes. Helen
