Lorraine Report 24 Sep 2009 16:07

smethwick is only transcribed between 1932 and 1966 on free bmd

if you look to left of search boxes there are a list of places transcribed scroll down you will see smethwick

it may have been a different district back then what does her place of birth say on the census

The births may simply not have been registered. Until 1875 , there was no penalty for not registering births

Is this the baptism of one of them?

They may not have birth certificates as although registration began in 1837 there was no penalty for not registering until 1875 when fines for late registration were introduced.

Hi

The Emma I gave you for birth details does look to be the one

KathleenBell Report 24 Sep 2009 22:09

It looks as if one of the births may have been found, but even if children's births were not registered, most people would have had their children baptised in those days.

The County Records office for the area is the place to find baptisms if they are not on the IGI.

this family apart from hannah, and emma, was born in different area, samuel on one census was born in blaenavon in wales, in another he was born in darlaston, in another he was born in brierley hill, thomas also was born in different places, on the census, there mother was also born in different places so with hannah and emma being born in smethwick, i thought that i could get thier birth cetificates , then i would have the mothers maiden name,
