Hi im trying to find any morris's from manchester my great great grandparents where sarah and edwin morris, edwin was born in chorlton, they had 5 children whos names were edwin, john, samuel, sarah (my great gran) and george. They were all born in the ancoats/ ardwick area I dont know what happened to my great uncles and would be greatful of any information anybody could give me. Thanks Karen

Hi Karen,
I see from your posting in 2005 you are asking about Morris family from Manchester.My great grandmother was called Mary Morris married Francis Potter lived in Chorlton area. No idea of any family belonging to Mary.

Hi Karen,

I have a number of Morris names in my tree...

My Gx3 Grandfather - William Morris born Manchester 1796 - a warehouseman. Lived 29 Miller Street until his death prior to 1871. His wife was Hannah. Their children were:
Mary born c. 1826
Elizabeth born c. 1828. Married James Nightingale 1853 Manchester Cathedral.
William born 1829, died 1880
Hannah born 1834.

My Gx2 Grandfather - William Morris born Manchester 1829 - a plumber / gas fitter. Died 1880. Married Jane Hawthorn 1852. Their children were:
Mary Jane born 1854
William born 1855
Emma born 1861, married Thomas James Stanley Chorlton 1890.

Emma was my G Grandmother.
