John Mynott, where was he born, to whom and when?
We know he married Mary Willens (various spellings) in 1739, Shudy Camps, we believe he died in 1777 Shudy Camps.
Some researchers have John Mynott born in 1719, some twin this date with the parents James and Ann Mynott (nee Hurst). Taking James Mynott and Ann Hurst as possible parents of a son born in 1719. They married 3 Feb 1682, Linton, they had 4 children born/christened in Shudy Camps:
• Elizabeth Mynott 2 January 1683 • James Mynott 13 May 1685 • Ann Mynott 1 March 1687 • John Mynott 20 Nov 1688
Ann would have been 60 years of age if she was mother to a son born in 1719, is the date of birth wrong in researchers records ( think this may have originated from the IGI) or was John Mynott (M. 1739) her grandson?
I don’t know if there were no more children born to this family or the family moved. There is no BMD of Mynotts of any reasonable spellings that I can see from 1705 – 1730, in Shudy Camps, Horseheath or Castle Camps (I have parish CD). To add to the complication the end of 1719, 1720 and 1721 pages from Shudy Camp are missing from the Register, although not good, I can’t believe everything happen between those dates, both marriages, births etc. of the four children of James and Ann. Did they move to one of the many Suffolk Parishes near by, they are not in West Wickham (have parish disc) and I can not see them in the records on the IGI in Suffolk.
I am inclined to believe that John Mynott who married Mary Willens was the son of either James Mynott (b. 1685) or John Mynott (b. 1688) but I have NO Prove. If he was the John Mynott born in 1688 he was a very virile man of his age who produced his children late in life into his 60s and died aged 89.
What does anyone else think, has anyone done any major research on this end of the line?
Would love to hear of anyone else’s thoughts ideas or even proof of parentage, dates and places.
Kind Regards
Debbie
