Hope someone can help cause going round the bend trying to find William Lightbody Nicholson. He was born Dalton-Le-Dale 1843. His parents were David and Grace. He married Grt Grandmother Hannah Halliday 1866. After Grandmother was born 1871, he seems to have vanished. I've tried everything I can think of. Really appreciate some help.

Thanks
Hazel

Is this him in 1861? Curiously no occupation given and he's 18 years old!

22 Henry St., Sawdon, Seaham Harbour, Durham
David Nicholson, head, 40, dock gateman, born Northumberland, Newcastle
Grace, wife, 50, born Scotland
William, son, 18, born Durham, Seaham Harbour

Hi Margaret

Yes that's him. I've got his marraige up with Hannah (Halleday) but on every census search after that I can't find him. Hannah didn't declare herself as a widow until 1891, so he must have been somewhere. It's a puzzler.

If you look at all occupations around him on 1861 they are Mariners or seamans wives so i would say he was away at sea.

What was his occupation on his daughters birth cert ?
And marriage cert ?
