Inquiry from Australia. Trying to find any info, descendants, business associates and particularly children/grandchildren of:- Clara Louisa Hartley nee NICHOLSON b1864 Melbourne Australia d:??? Father- James Charles Wilson Nicholson born 1837 Bradford UK Mother- Diana Nicholson nee Rushworth b 1838 Bradford UK - Father Thomas Rushworth - Innkeeper. James and Diana moved to Australia in Dec 1859. Built a business empire in the Musical Instruments and Publishing industry. The only one of the Nicholson dynasty to leave the UK permanently apart from his sister Frances (Fanny) Edmondson nee Nicholson who came out after the death of her husband Richard in 1895 AND George Henry Hartley b 1853 Horton Yorkshire - d:??? Merchant Shipping Agent and Basso Singer Father - same name - Born 1821 Bradford - WorstedSpinner Mother - Sarah Robertshaw - b 1824 Horton Yorkshire George and Clara married 6th July 1893 at the Bradford Parish Church. Marriage certificate state George resided at 18 Queens Road Shipley and Clara resided at 18 Spring Gardens Bradford. Do either of these places still exist today?? Not on 1901 census. Thought to be out of the country. Have not been able to locate them since the wedding. Believe to have met via Clara's uncle Frederick Whitworth Nicholson, also an organ builder, Freemason, but most importantly the President and VP of a major choral society in Bradford where George was probably a member and it's lead Basso singer. They could have met via the family business, as George was in the shipping industry. No death found in UK for either. No records of them anywhere in the UK, however it's believed that was their country of residence. Passenger lists show them departing from the UK on trips to Australia, except for one visit in May 1914 when they left from a European port, probably coming to Australia in the early days of WW1. After a three year search, any information would be much appreciated.
