It isn't impossible for Mary to be Theodosia, she perhaps got fed up of trying to explain her name and chose the simplest she could think of - or perhaps the enumerator couldn't cope with the name either?

Or perhaps she was known as Mary and whoever gave the information didn't know her correct name.

It seems unlikely that Theodosia died in 1841/2 and he remarried age 60 - but it can happen! You would have to get the marriage cert you found to satisfy yourself on this.

hi all
thanks margaret, i think they are the same person,
orton on the hill, convinces me,
the chances of both theodosia and mary
living in coventry and being from orton on the hill
seems very remote,
thank you all for your help
best wishes
