Can anyone help me on this one? On the death certificate of my ggg grandfather William Parker in 1873 it states; His occupation is given as Fisherman, living at Balcarry Banks, Parish of Old Luce. His wife Jane Cruickshanks is still living at this time. The cause of death is given as Consumption and his father and mother are only named by surname i.e. Parker and McCaig. Talk about vague! I know he was born in Stoneykirk in 1803 from the marriage banns I downloaded from Scots/peeps. He and Jane Cruickshanks first child was named Helen. Could this be after his mother? Is there anyone out there with a Helen McCaig, born circa 1780 who had a relationship with a Parker in Stoneykirk? |

Hi Kenneth, I do have a Helen McCaig/McCraig (marraige cert is not clear) but not with your dates, could be a descendant though. She was born in the early 18th Century and married James Murray in Barony Parish, Glasgow on 25/03/1833. They had 4 sons, James, Hugh, Adair and John. Adair is my Great, Great, Great Grandfather. |
