Julie, you need to know who his parents are in order to know that you are following the right Walter Pearson - so have you found them on any census? It is not usual to start with a birth record and move up the censuses but find the family first.

If you need some help, tell us what year he was born and anything else you know about him.

I imagine this is the birth you found:-

Year of Registration: 1878
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Wortley (1838-1974)
County: Yorkshire - West Riding
Volume: 9c
Page: 256

Thank you, I have requested a copy of his birth certificate, and will wait for that and start looking at census then, it's all confusing to me.

It's a possibility (but only a possibility) that Walter is David's son. You would need the birth certificate to be sure.

A tree on Ancestry has marriage certificate of Walter A Pearson dad William Pearson,Walter married florence armistead 6/5/1899.

William Pearson his dad born 1849-1903 married sarah walker 1848- 1907 they had including walter a 1878 eight children.

William was the brother of david 1844 in 1881 census.

The tree has a story about Walter a saying he was a locomotive Fireman when he married florence then a Railway stoker in 1901 but i think they have the wrong 1901 census.
He later went to work at Needlers chocolates and became master confectioner and opened his own shop at a later date.

It says they had the following children Hilda 1900-1907 not sure about Hilda as she is on the 1901 census which i think is wrong.
Harold 1901-1963 Clifford /Clarence 1907-1996.

There are lots of photos on this tree.
