Hmmm, I do wonder Carole, if you are reading too much into the Staleybridge thing? I may well be way out but I did a little fishing myself and there was a young Benjamin Roberts, aged 16, living in Carnarvon, Wales on the 1901 census. He was just one of a few hundred nationwide, but this one sticks out because he was an engine driver at a quarry. Add to this you say Bertha was about 4 years old when her dad died and well, there is a death in Carnarvon in 1910, Benjamin Roberts aged just 26! Non of this may be connected but a strange coincidence of circumstances even so. |
