Thomas Roberts Family Tottenham HELP!

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Roger Report 9 Jun 2010 05:18

Thomas Roberts c 1877 married Emily Haynes c 1880 in Edmonton London.
The 1911 Census shows that they had 4 Children who other than birth records I cannot locate for marriages or Deaths.
As the family never moved far from Edmonton/Tottenham/Islington North London I would expect records to reflect that. Children I am looking to find:
Thomas b 1899
Emma b 1902
Percy b 1906
Harry b 1909
Any help will be much appreciated.

Do you have the 1901 Census??

Emily Roberts 24
Thomas Roberts 1

I don't know what kind of records you are looking for.

Unfortunately, the Parish Records for Edmonton do not seem to have been included in the London Metropolitan Archives that have been transcribed for ancestry ..... at least, I have never managed to find anyone baptised or married in an Edmonton church!

There is of course no census available more recent than the 1911.

You could look on www.freebmd.org.uk, get the birth registration details for those children, and any others that might have been born after 1911, and then buy the birth certificates.

Only the father's name will be shown on an Electoral Roll until about 1930, when the wife's name might also appear, along with the names of any children over 21 still at home.

You could also search freebmd for possible marriages for the children.

You say that you have located birth records for these children.

Do they have middle names ?

Their exact date of birth can also help determine the correct death registration.

There was a 'Percy George" registered Q4, 1905 as you are aware, some children were born in one quarter bit registered in the next.
There was this death of a "Percy George"

Name: Percy George Roberts
Birth Date: 20 Aug 1905
Death Registration Month/Year: Feb 1992
Age at death (estimated): 86
Registration district: Bury St Edmunds
Inferred County: Suffolk
Volume: 10
Page: 2573

Could this be your Percy ?????

Hi Julcoe,
No I have not got middle names the 1911 does not appear to show these. Not aware of any of the family moving to the turnip county of Suffolk. However I am in New Zealand and I am shortly going to have a real Suffolk Ale (from Suffolk) that I can buy here.
Thank you,
Roger

Hi Sylvia,
Trying to locate any leads on marriages or deaths.
Emily was my Fathers aunt but I never knew her although I recently got a photograph of her from a realtive in Australia. However that relative has no knowledge of any children. Hoping the marroage particularly might help to locate relatives who knew what happened to Emily or the children in their lives.
Thank you for your help/
