Description
Absolutely fabulous Georgian country house set in open countryside, yet just four miles from historic Ludlow. Library, bar, good food, good company. Absolutely fabulous Georgian country house set in open countryside, yet just four miles from historic Ludlow. Library, bar, good food, good company.
Built by Lord Boyne in 1789, a year remarkable in that it saw not only the outbreak of the French Revolution but also the mutiny on the Bounty. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, combining the comforts of the twentieth century with the traditional qualities of the English Country House lifestyle. The Moor Hall is a lovely example of the Georgian Palladian style and enjoys breathtaking views over miles of unspoilt countryside.
The house is backed by stands of mature beech, oak and sycamore and there are fine individual examples of mulberry, hazel, weeping birch and sweet chestnut. Whilst the formal areas of lawn are kept at regulation length, there are wilder areas where nature rules. Since we stand in open countryside, our trees and shrubs provide a haven for wildlife.
Our grounds extend over five acres and include a small spring fed lake, which is well stocked with fish. Some of the carp are well over 20lbs in weight and can often be seen basking near the surface on warm summer days. For the more energetic the hills beyond offer some wonderful walking.
