My maternal grandmother, Margaret Roberts married Robert Owen Jones at Birkenhead around 1912-1913.She originally came from either Mold or Hollywell area of North Wales. Prior to marriage she was in service in either Viner Road or Ellenor Road, Bidston as a childrens' nanny. Although apparently from a large family she seemed to have no contact with her parents or siblings. The only relative that I am aware of was a tram driver around late 20's - early 30's. He was either her brother or an uncle.It was said that he drove one of the first trams in Birkenhead.My mother used to get on his tram going to school and he did speak to her. Does this sound familiar? |
