Mary Robinson, about 1858 Birkenhead

Mary is my g grandmother, she married my g grandfather Wallace Brittain in February 1887. According to her marriage certificate she was 28 and the widowed daughter of Alexander Robinson, cashier. Can find nothing obvious about him in census records.

Her first husband was John White, and I think they were married in Birmingham in 1877. John died in 1885.

My g grandma might have been the Mary Robinson living in Birmingham in 1871 - census ref RG10 3127/95/4 - with a Henry Griffiths and his wife Mary, both born in Prees, Shropshire, who were apparently her aunt and uncle.

There were countless little Robinson girls named Mary 1857-1859 in Birkenhead/Wirral. Can anyone please help me identify the right one?

Hello K

Really don't know. He is yet another mystery character in my ancestry. The marriage certificate doesn't say he was deceased but I have about 4 certificates where I know one of the fathers was dead by the time of the marriage, but "deceased" doesn't appear against their names.

Think I'll get a copy of the marriage certificate for Mary's first marriage and see if that can offer any more clues.

Thanks for responding

David
