Hi Can anyone help please? I am looking for any information concerning the parents and siblings, marriage and death of James Robinson, born 1837 in Clerkenwell, London. He was a Carman by trade. Appears on the 1901 census living at 40 Georges Rd, Islington, but i'm having difficulty finding him before that, but i have probably missed something as i am quite new to all this. He is my great grandfather. If i have missed any details out that are required please let me know.

Many thanks in advance.

Just a bit of a typo there,I think. Born 1867????

Who and when did he marry? Do you have the marriage certificate?

My apologies, he was born 1867 not 1837.

He is stated as the father on a marriage certificate i have for his daughter Florence Robinson (married Albert Andrews 1921). On the certificate his occupation is Carman and unfortunately by the time his daughter married he was already dead.

I have not been able to find information concerning a marriage as yet.

Any idea when Florence was born or who her mother was?(or siblings)

We know that Florence was born in 1893 we believe in Islington, but we have very limited info...which is defo not helping, sorry.

Oh,that is tough. So,the 1901 James might not even be her father-just someone who has a similar occupation.

Probably won't help-but who were the witnesses to the marriage and what was her address given as?

On Florence's marriage certificate i have James Robinson (deceased), profession listed as Carman. The witnesses are Mary Ann Jones and R Wilson.

I have a feeling that the 1901 James Robinson may well turn out to be her father but it's just a hunch at this stage from the information that i've got.

Florence's address at marriage was 2 Bohemia Place, Hackney London, which was the same as her husband's so i think they were living together previously. I think they got married because she fell pregnant, my uncle was born later that year!

I'm just not seeing anything likely. Sorry.

Good luck!
