Hi, I'm looking for any descendants of the siblings of my gg grandmother Jane Robinson, born circa 1839 Kirkby Stephen the daughter of John Ellwood Robinson and his wife Sarah. The family later lived at Stockhow Hall, Lamplugh, Cumberland.The family story is that Jane was 'cast out' of the family for marrying beneath her, she married Joseph Bell,who apparently worked for the family (Tho having trouble find ing the certificate up to now!) and moved to Seaton,near Workington. There seemed to be several siblings, Mary Ann, Margaret, Adam and Matthew are names I know of, Adam appeared to stay and farm in the Lamplugh area and Matthew returned to Westmorland, also to farm. I'd love to find out more of this family, as legend has it Jane never saw them again. Hope to hear from you. |
