Thomas Leathwick ROBINSON. I am trying to find information about Thomas. He was a convict, sent to Australia on the 'Competitor' in 1823. He had been sentenced at the Old Bailey. In the NSW 1828 Census he is listed as living in Campbelltown, NSW (aged 46), with an Elizabeth ROBINSON (aged 68) I can only assume that she was his mother, also a convict sent here in 1810 on the 'Canada', as Thomas had already applied for his wife and family to be sent out. Wife was Mary Jane ROPIER, children were Mary-ann, Susannah (my gggrandma, married John PHILLIPS), Frederick (who married Caroline PHILLIPS, John's sister) George and Lucy. I would like to confirm that Elizabeth WAS his mother. Have had most of the info about Thomas by getting Frederick's Death Certificate and following up on that. ROBINSON is a name that has always been around in my family but I have never known anyone with that surname, except an old lady (in the 1950s..I was a kid!) who lived in Watson's Bay in Sydney..she was Belle ROBINSON. Can't find her death on the NSW BDM (now updated Deaths to 1974!) |
