Poor you, if you're looking for those cousins -- there are over 300 Scott listings in the on-line phone directory for Winnipeg.

Have you tried contacting any of the people with Scotts born in Winnipeg in their trees at GR? There are lots, but not quite as many as in the phone book. ;) (and many duplicates and triplicates, of course)

Heh. Genes Reunited. GR. Click on "search trees" up above.

Do you know when your Thomas emigrated? If it was before 1911, you might catch him in the Cdn census with kids. If you don't know whether he had any or who they were, that could help.

In case it helps any, there were two Thomas Scotts born in Scotland living in Manitoba in 1911 who could be him.

Hi Cynthia -- I don't know whether you know whether the marriage and births happened in Manitoba.

This is a site for searching vital stats in Manitoba:

http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php

Births (more than 100 years ago)
Marriages (more than 80 years ago)
Deaths (more than 70 years ago)

Only the marriage search would work, likely, and I didn't see a matching one; and in any event the results wouldn't tell you anything you don't know now.

Pioneer Grain is still there:

http://www.pioneergrain.ca/

now "a subsidiary of James Richardson International Limited". But he retired so long ago ...

A bit hard to follow there. Children
Janet
Ina
Mary
T?

I actually knew a Janet Scott -- she was the chair of the Immigration Appeal Board until shortly after 1980. I don't know where she was from or whether she was married. And her activities were before the internet age, so google isn't finding me anything. She would have been born about 1920, I'd imagine. Hmm. If I think of how to find out any more about her ...

Sorry, but I'm dudding out on you. Unless "T" was a son, none of the grandchildren would even be named Scott, for instance.

You could try a personal ad in a Winnipeg newspaper ;)

www.winnipegfreepress.com

or contact the Manitoba Genealogy Society

http://www.mbgenealogy.com/

and they might be able to give you some pointers. Good luck!

Hi,
I have been searching for a Thomas Scott who was born in Glasgow in 1871 and married Mary Jane Barton in1891and emigrated to Canada (with or without wife I am not sure). He then left canada and returned to scotland where he bigimously married my grandmother Agnes Airley in 1920 and had four more children including my father who is also Thomas Scott. We know there is family in Canada and quite possibly in Scotland.Thomas and Mary Jane used to live at 81 Oswald Street, Glasgow. When married to my grandmother they used to live at 17 Bankier Street,Glasgow. It seems that before marrying my grandmother Thomas scott lived at 24 Walkinshaw Street. He was convicted of bigamy in Glasgow on 28th April 1932. Is there any family out there? If so please get in touch as I have been searching for some time now.
