I'm trying to find any information on Walter John E Smith born in Brighton Sussex 1887,he was registered at birth in his mother surname Thompson, and later took his fathers name Smith along with his brothers and sisters who were all born in Brighton,Sussex.
I found in the 1911 Canadian census a Walter, wife Mary(Nellie?) and daughter sissy age 2(was her name Alice?)
In his attestation paper for Canadian forces signed 1915 his wife Nellie lived at 75 Ann Street,Toronto.
I have photos of (I believe are): Walter,Mary/Nellie and daughter Sissy/Alice,taken by a Toronto photographers(Queens Studio)
I also have a photo written on the back says: Alice taken in the garden in Canada 1932.
Walters fathers name was William and mother Ada,his brothers and sisters were William born 1884,Florence born1889,Godfrey born 1891,James born 1895,Ethel born 1897.Do any of these people fit into your family.

Hi Maralyn -- I can't see these people in the 1911 to save my life! Did you find them at Ancestry or automatedgenealogy?

I was looking at Ancestry, because I was going to ask whether you'd been able to see the image, to see whether any of the names were mistranscriptions. If you haven't seen the Cdn records at Ancestry, you ain't seen mistranscriptions -- in part, but only in part, because of the poor quality of the originals.

Is this their marriage?

Name: Walter Smith + Nellie Shaw?
Year of Registration: 1908
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Brighton
County: Sussex, East Sussex
Volume: 2b
Page: 499

So presumably their daughter, who was 2 in 1911, was born in England.

If you want the census image checked -- it should also give an address -- any other info you could give from the record you saw that could help identify them would be useful.
