I am trying to find more details of Albert Spencer,my grandfather who was born at Giltbrook,Nottinghamshire in 1884 and married Edith Stafford in August 1905 at Burton on Trent.

Hi, This is certainly my grandfather and family and i know where he died in 1960 but can't seem to find anyone who can certify where he was born and his parents names and any other relatives. I remember hearing Giltbrook,Nottinghamshire being talked of when i was a child.

Having looked at the registration district for Gilbrook it seems to be Basford. I can't really pin him down 1901. Maybe someone else will have more joy, if not you will need the marriage cert.

Thanks everyone for your help, I don't know whether he had any siblings other than me having a great aunt Gertrude who came to stay but am not sure whether she was grandads sister or my grandmothers.

Hello Pauline, you really need to order a copy of his marriage certificate to get his father's name and occupation so you can trace him back over.
