Trying to find Spencer

I have in my possession a marriage certificate for ETHEL SPENCER widow, (formerly ETHEL DRAPER) to WILLIAM HUTTON widower, Nottingham 1920. Ethel Draper was born c1886 so she must have married a gentleman named '?'- Spencer between about 1902 and 1919 who died in that period. As far as I am aware there were no children, although it is possible Phyllis was a product of this marriage. Ethel and William Hutton went on to have two daughters (unless Phyllis was Mr Spencer's), the youngest of which was my sons' paternal grandmother, it's very hard to fill in the gaps in that 'dark period' 1901+ without a bit of hearsay so please if you know anything, do give me a shout?! thanks.
