Trying to find Spencer

HI, I'm trying to find out information on a John Spencer who died Dec. 1929 in Gateshead, Co. Durham. according to the details registered at his death he was 75 years of age. He married Effla Ticke Wilson sometime between 1891 and 1901. There 1st child Ann, was born 15th April 1898. On the 1901 census John is shown as being 36 years old which according to my reckoning makes 10 years difference in his age. I have been unable to find a marriage date or any other trace of him, I Have found an entry on the 1881 census showing a John Spencer of Newcastle as an inmate at Portland Prison in Dorset but I have no idea if this is the same person. If there is any one out there who has information on John please put me out of my misery as trying to trace him is proving to be very frustrating. Thanks June |
