Starkey Report 2 Sep 2021 08:58

Hello there, hope this gets to you. Saw your old posted on Genes Reunited. I have a Francis Sylvester Starkey in my tree. Im pretty sure Catherine would be a Grand Aunt. Theres quite a few Step children as Catherine was the daughter of Steven Starkey & Catherine Sheehan. who had 3 wives. Very confusing.
This is the info I have-I think Catherine Starkey was unmarried as she did have a son called Francis Sylvester Starkey
4/4/2018: Found an illegitimate male child born to Catharine at the Asylum through the Benevolent Society Inc mother Catherine was admitted 25th November 1883 Aged 21 which means she was born 1862 But it says she arrived at the colony in 1861 which means she was born at the colony in 1861. Register of inmates 1881-1889 Event Year 1883. I originally had her as born 1863. It also says her mother & father were Stephen & Catharine, Place of residence was Ballarat West & Catharines birth place was Spingdellah nr, Piggoreet. She was admitted to the asylum due to pregnancy on the 25th November 1883 & discharged 16th December 1883. It also says as remarks: Brought from refuge 1/4past 6am confined at 10, 1/2 am. Which means the male baby was born the 25th of November 1883.
Gave notice and left her child and herself in good health, to reside with Mrs Richards, Victoria St, Gave Matron 1 pound paid to Secretary, 7th, Inst. per Messenger. Register of Inmates 1881-1889. Event Year 1883. So this must be Francis Sylvester Starkey, his mother was Catharine & he was born in the year 1883 (arrived at the colony 1883). DOB 25 November 1883 as he was born at 10 1/2 am.
