Any info on William would be most welcome. We think he was born in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. He was a soldier aged 27 according to his marriage certificate. He and Norah were divorced in 1948. He may have remarried.

The important thing you missed out was the year he was born?

Hi, Lindsey,

Not sure where my brain is at present. I can't believe I forgot to put the marriage year. It was 1940. William's age is down as 27 on that but he may have lied to reduce the age gap as Norah was just 18.

I have found a William Leslie Taylor born in Newcastle in 1909 but without sending for the cert we cannot be sure. This would make him about 31.

I don't think the one you have mentioned will be the one as we don't think he would have made himself older than he was on the marriage certificate.

His father's name was John and he was a civil engineer when William was married.

I am hoping that this small amount of information might jog someone's memory.

He and Norah had one daughter born in 1941.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to get in touch. It is a pity we do not know his mother's name.

Hi Kathleen

Looks to me your going to have to buy a few certs! (£7)
...but...if you put Fathers name (John) as a checking point,it wont cost as much. I think it's £4 but not sure.

1909 births for William Lesley Turner.
