Find Ancestors

Hi all, can anyone help with scottish records please. I am looking for any info on Charles Connolly Taylor. Born around1900 in Lanarkshire. He had a brother Matthew, and sister Mary. He married Agnes Patterson from Bellshill, Lanarkshire.
This info is for my 85 year old friend, these are her parents, who she knew very little about.

Found a birth for a Charles Connelly Taylor born 04/01/1904 Hamilton Lanarkshire
parents given as William Sommerville Taylor and Sarah Taylor ms Connelly.....they married 28/06/1901 Hamilton.


Charles Connelly Taylor (Steam Land Roller Driver) aged 19 son of William (Road Surfaceman) and Sarah ms Connelly married Agnes Paterson (Domestic Servant) aged 21 daughter of James (Colliery Engine Keeper) and Margaret ms Young on 21/07/1923 at The Manse, Carfin Holytown

William Sommerville Taylor (Farm Servant) aged 18 son of William Taylor ( Mechanical engineer) and Jane Sommerville (previously Taylor) ms ? Lawrie married Sarah Connelly (Farm Servant) aged 22 daughter of Charles (Drapery Hawker) and Mary ms Corrigan (both deceased) on 28/06/1901 at Hamilton

Aileen , this is fantastic, looks like you have found it. Can you tell me which site you got it from. Just in case I can't get on to it , can you possibly see if you can find a death for Charles. I hope this isn't costing you though.

Information is from Scotland'sPeople......it is pay-to-view but it doesn't cost much if you know the most economical way to search ....I have learned through lots of practice....lol

Charles died aged 50 on 22/04/1954 Hamilton he had married three times 1st Agnes Paterson 2nd Jessie Dobbie Millar (from whom divorced) 3rd Jane Wright Fleming Stevenson ms Jones. Cause of death Tuberculosis 8yrs and Congestive cardiac failure 1yr death cert signed by his son I can't make out the name but it might begin with a J

Thanks so much Aileen, this means my friend must have a half brother somewhere. I hope he is still alive and kicking, she will be delighted to hear this. My friend (Isobel) had no contact with her father from being about 10, after Agnes her mother died when Isobel was 7. So never knew what happened to him. Wow, can't wait to tell her all this tomorrow.

Agnes Taylor ms Paterson died aged 29 14/09/1931 at Western Infirmary Glasgow cause of death Bilateral Otitis Media Basal Meningitis.....death cert was signed by Charles

I would love to be able to help further but there would be way to many J Taylors and we have no idea about date or place of birth.

This looks interesting Aileen, though it is after Charles's death.
I wonder if the mother is wifey number 3 Jane Stevenson.

Charles died 1954 so the birth was before he died..... could have been a grandson.....or perhaps a nephew.
The divorce from Jessie was 1952 so he wasn't married to Jane for very long before his death although he may have been living with her

yes you were right about the dates, I was getting confused with the giddiness !! I have just phoned my friend, she is absolutely delighted with what you have found out.
Last night I checked the telephone directory for Charles Taylor in that area, I came up with two, so they will be getting a call from Isobel to see if it could be her half brother.
I don't know how to thank you enough. I am going to have another go at registering onto the Scottish peoples site. Every pass word I put in was being rejected. I even tried putting in daft words, but it still didn't like me !
