I would order the marriage cert using Ada's name only - William could be either male.

Jill, What's the free BMD list and where do I find it. Stella Goree

Freebmd is an online site:

www.freebmd.org.uk

You can search for births, marriages and deaths from when registration started (1837) up till about the 30's. It's an absolutely invaluable site and very easy to use. Just have a play around!

To order certificates the simplest way is to go to the GRO (General Records Office) site and order online. Certs cost £7. The information you get from the freebmd will give you all you need to order what you want, namely:

Name
year
quarter
registration number In this case 4a 1073).

Good luck!
