With such a common name my inclination would be to try & locate a birth for one of the children and get the cert to find out Hannah's maiden name. Or maybe someone can look up a baptism for you on Ancestry? |

Thanks for your help. I did look up births for children with the parents as Joseph and Hannah but without success. |

I think Ann, Annie, Hannah were fairly interchangeable - and of course we might have enumerator error (or maybe Joseph was trying to sound posh by ading an H!) |

You could well be right that he married Ann, Charlotte Lowman in 1877! I had assumed Joseph had probably married by about 1870 however, I should know by now that you shouldn't assume anything! |
