Hi everyone, I have read some of the threads on GR and were quite surprised at the return of information. Really interesting.
I hope someone can help me. Here goes
Norman Roy Taylor left Derbyshire in 1925 to live with a Step Brother James Cleary.
He lived there till 1946 and served in the Canadian Army during the war. I received his Military Records from Canada.

His military records state when he joined in June 1940 he was married to an Elda A Taylor living in 182 Forest Ave, Hamilton
It also said he had (4) four children: Norman L 9, William 7, Kenneth 2 & Mary 1 month.
I would like to find out whether Elda or any of the children have passed away, or are still living in the Hamilton area.

Norman Roy Taylor worked for the Dominion Glass Company in Hamilton up till the time he joined the army.

Hamilton street directory showed in 1950 Elda & Norman L (son)living at 182 Forest.
In 1952 Norman L still living there. Elda now living with a George Bell.

Did Elda remarry ? Did Elda & Norman Roy divorce ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi again Dee,

That was very quick.

That is definately him, but not his mother.
(Travelling with his mother Sarah Ann aged 58).

His mother's name was Martha Louisa Taylor (Cleary)

I was told he travelled at 19 on his own to live with his stepbrother James Cleary

Interesting

On the record Batman's daughter found it lists Norman Roy Taylor born Ripley and passage paid by his step brother
Sarah is directly below born Bedworth and passage paid by self.

Bedworth is a market town in the Nuneaton and Bedworth district of Warwickshire, England.

Martha was born Paddington

Hi LadyKira,

He did come back in 1946.

It does seem interesting that the woman was a Taylor, but of no relative.

Thankyou for the 1911 cesus as well

Hi Dee,

I called the number yesterday and spoke to a woman who said that she did not think there was any link.

The line was pretty poor and she could not hear me too well, so I told her I would write & explain more in detail.

Hi Ron,

it was worth a shot, and maybe if you do write it may jog any memories that aren't present in an unexpected telephone call.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
