I am trying to trace my family tree back as far as possible really. My grandad's name was Tom Taylor (died 1979 in Blackpool, born in Burnley 1906). His father was called Joe Taylor who I have traced since posting a message on the Burnley messageboard no less!! Joe was born in Burnley n 1875 and played for them from 1893-1906, when he retired to do something else (but I don't know what). In the 1901 census it tells me he had 2 sons John and Joseph, John is the one I'm having the most success with. I found a record of him being on the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria ship, as he emigrated from our shores for the US in 1920. At that time he was 24y 3m and was single. The Manifest Line Nunber (whatever that is) was 0015. What I need to do now is to trace who he got married to in the 1920's as I know he had children. Does anybody know if there are any free US sites I can go on to trace my American relatives? Thanks. |
