I am interested in finding any information about my great grandparents: Jane Matilda Rice born 4.1.1849 in Whitechapel, London, one of 9 children. Her father was a Devonshire cabinet maker and her mother a true cockney!and my great grandfather, John Robert Taylor born 25th December 1846. They moved to Yorkshire and John Robert was a local preacher and worker for Dr, Barnardo's.John Robert Taylor came from Hamstead Heath and had a few brothers. They were in business and lost their fortune on the stock exchange crash at the beginning of the century, hence the reason for moving to Yorkshire. We understand the Taylor business could have involved shoes and related items especially umbrella's!!!!!Has anyone any information please. |
