Emlyn Thomas of Mountain Ash

Trying to solve a family puzzle. There is a family story !!! that my grandfather had a brother (Emlyn) who was adopted/looked after by another family, possibly a relative. Unsure of the date of birth -siblings go from 1884 to 1896, all born mid Glamorgan. The family are all born in rapid succession so the only gaps are pre 1884, 1892 and between 1894 & 1895.
Emlyn shows on no census return with the family. This seems to dispell the idea that he was the oldest in the family and just chose not to move to the North East of England c1895.
He could have been born before my Gt. Grandparents married and adopted, or born just before they moved and left behind in Wales.
The family story says that Emlyn went on to run a Post Office in Mountain Ash, Glamorgan.

There are several possible births for the dates. The census entries shed no light - all the Emlyn's seem to fit into their families. He may not have kept the same name - or even existed.

Hoping that someone may recognise the details, or have used a Post Office in Mountain Ash between the Wars!!
