Where was George born as it is a very common name and it would be dificult to find him in the census without more information. When did he die as depending when his date of birth may be mentioned. Sorry I see he died 1954. Irene |

Is it the death registered at Chatham age 73 as he is George W Thompson which may help with finding him in the earlier census. Irene |

Thanks for all the help. Most of the detail I had discovered previously. Still no joy on the date of birth tho. The BIG problem is we don't know where or the exact date of birth - but the most likely connection looks to be that which 'Potty' suggested as further research seems to echo the family story that George's name wasn't Thompson at all.
