Hi to all the THOMPSON’s and those looking for us Thompson’s! I’m at a point and have been stuck for some time in tracing a ‘Robert Thompson’. Problem is I have conflicting evidence The Robert Thompson I’m looking for details on or around is my G Grandfather. The details I know are: 1. He was Baptised in Coundon, Durham 22 Nov 1885. For parentage it only shows Alice Thompson (single woman) of Coundon. I have the Certificate! 2. Robert Thompson (Fathers name shown as Charles Holliday) married Isabella Bell of Bowden Close (Fathers name shown as Matthew Bell) on 3rd Jan 1903 both showing the age of 21. A John Curry and Margerat Bell were the witnesses. The marriage took place at St John’s Church, Sunnybrow, Durham. I have the Certificate! 3. Robert Thompson died 28th Jan 1950 age 64 at Sedgefield, General Hospital. It also shows “of West End, Sedgefield” occupation “Colliery Deputy Overman”. Finally, registered by Lilly Wright of Fishburn Terrace, Fishburn. His daughter. I have the Certificate! 4. In addition to Lilly, Robert had a son Albert. My father confirmed this. Its all messy information really as the DoB for him can’t add up. Being Baptised in Nov 1885 would lead to think of born that year. Yet the Marriage Cert takes you back to 1882. If anyone knows of, or has any information on Robert or the people I have mentioned particularly his parentage could you please let me know. Thanks Chris Thompson.
