Hi Can any one help me trace my Great Great Grandfathers family. William Wilthew Thompson was born in South Shields in 1855 he was married in 1876 to Jane Ann Wheatley b1857. William was a Marine Engineer. They had three sons: William Wheatley Thompson b1877 in South Shields - my Great Grandfather. Ernest Thompson b1880 in South Shields and Albert Thompson b1883 in South Shields. I'm not sure when William Wilthew Thompson died as he went to sea he does not show on the Census. In 1881 Jane Ann Thompson is shown as a Marine Engineers wife, then on the 1891 Census she shows as a widdow. I can't find any death registered so I don't know if he died at sea. Jane later marries Thomas Bell in 1891 and they have a daughter Jane E Bell born 1892 in South Shileds. Of the three sons I know William Wheatley Thompson was married in 1905 to Mary Ann Burn b1877 in Tynemouth. They had one son Lelsie Burn Thompson. My Grandfather. I would like to know what happened to Ernest and Albert. My Grandfather talked of cousins in Canada. Did either or both go to Canada? Many Thanks |
