Trying to find Thompson

My paternal grandmother was Gladys Florence Thompson, bon in c1896, in or around the Woking area (Surrey) (I think). The only thing I know for certain is that granny was born out of wedlock (rumour has it her mother (Great Grandmother) was in service and was seduced by the employer's son, then she was dismissed?) Is there anyone out there who knows anything about her family? Granny was a ward of the Gibson-Lees and worked in the family laundry at Birch House, Horsell, Woking, Surrey. Does anyone know anything about the laundry or the Gibson-Lees? Please get in contact if you know anything - I've hit a brick wall.
